Job Summary

Kforce is seeking a Payroll Coordinator in Brooklyn, NY. This contract role involves assisting with all aspects of the payroll process for salaried and hourly employees, including reviewing timesheets, entering data, and processing payroll activities. The coordinator will also handle personnel changes, prepare journal entries, manage direct deposits and garnishments, and assist with compliance, audits, and regulatory filings. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication are essential.

Must Have

  • Assist with all aspects of the payroll process for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Review timesheets and enter data into payroll systems.
  • Serve as backup for processing payroll activities in the absence of the Payroll Manager.
  • Review personnel changes for completeness and accuracy before updating payroll records.
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll as part of month-end and quarter-end close processes.
  • Enter and maintain data related to direct deposits, garnishments, and other deductions.
  • Prepare payroll-related invoices and reports for submission to finance.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to review payroll data, ensure accuracy, and make corrections as needed.
  • Assist with preparing reports for compliance, audits, and regulatory filings.
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations and employee statistical reports as required.
  • Reconcile voluntary payroll deductions with vendor reports and coordinate with HR to ensure accuracy.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries promptly and provide excellent customer service.
  • Support audits by collecting and providing required documentation.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations and system updates.

  • Review personnel changes for completeness and accuracy before updating payroll records (e.g., salary changes, allocations, deductions)
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to payroll as part of month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Enter and maintain data related to direct deposits, garnishments, and other deductions
  • Prepare payroll-related invoices and reports for submission to finance
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to review payroll data, ensure accuracy, and make corrections as needed
  • Assist with preparing reports for compliance, audits, and regulatory filings
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations and employee statistical reports as required

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with payroll systems preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
